History Sartell Spiders (GHL) (1987–present)

The Sartell Spiders are a team of the Granite Hockey League, where they have played since joining the league as an expansion team for the 1986-87 season. Based in Sartell, Minnesota, the Rebels play their home games at the 500-seat Sartell Ice Arena.

History[]

The Spiders name was chosen after a poll asking fans what scares them, with spiders being one of the more common answers. The desire to strike fear into their opponents combined with the added alliterative appeal of the team name with the city name led them to make that choice. The Spiders' logo is based on the Striped Fishing Spider, one of the largest spiders native to Minnesota.
