History Dilworth Demons (RRHL) (1981–present)

The Dilworth Demons are a team of the Red River Hockey League, where they have played since joining the league as an expansion team for the 1980-81 season. Based in Dilworth, Minnesota, the Demons play their home games at the 3,000-seat Moorhead Sports Center in nearby Moorhead, sharing a home ice with their archrivals the Moorhead Huskies.

History[]

Located on the eastern border of Moorhead, the people of Dilworth decided to put a team together after the recent success of the Moorhead Huskies and the powerhouse status of the nearby Fargo Titans.

The Demons adopted their identity to serve as a contrast to their archrivals the Moorhead Huskies, known as the "Good Boys" because of their friendly husky logo.

Culture[]

Traditions[]

Dilworth plays "Raise A Little Hell" by Trooper both before opening puck drop and as teams return to the ice for the third period of play.

Rivalry Trophies[]

Metropolitan Bowl[]

The Demons compete against their metropolitan area rivals the Fargo Titans, Moorhead Huskies and West Fargo Wasps for the Metropolitan Bowl, awarded to the team which finishes the highest in the standings at the end of the season.

Currently, the Wasps hold the Bowl, having won it back in 1987 and holding it the following two years. The Titans and Wasps are tied for the all-time trophy series lead at 4-4-0-0, with the Demons and Huskies not yet having won the Bowl as of 1989.

DD[]

Beginning in 1983, the Demons have a body-costumed mascot named DD, a smiling red devil holding a silver pitchfork. DD can be seen at all Demons home games at the Moorhead Sports Center.
